You know your relationship. I help you find a new perspective.

Hi, I’m Daniel. I support couples in Berlin in understanding the patterns in their relationship and developing possibilities for a new way of being together. Both perspectives have space – individually, with structure and with equal consideration for both partners.

Typical couples counselling scenarios

Every relationship is unique. Yet some challenges come up again and again:

Recurring conflicts Anna and Sebastian have lived together for …

Anna and Sebastian have lived together for almost a year. Although they both work full time, most of the housework falls to Anna. When she raises the issue, Sebastian feels criticised and withdraws. Small things turn into heated arguments. They make up, but a few days later it all starts again.

Love gone quiet: Julia and Markus have been together for …

Julia and Markus have been a couple for 12 years and have two children. Between work and family life, there is hardly any time left for each other. They used to be passionate and share adventures; now they mostly function as parents. Because attraction and romance are missing, they wonder whether they still want their relationship at all.

Having children Claudia has wanted a child for years …

Claudia and Michael have been together for five years. Claudia has wanted a child for years, but Michael already has a nine-year-old son from a previous relationship and does not want another child. They love each other and want to stay together, but cannot find a way to deal with this fundamental difference.

Breaches of trust: Adrian has discovered that Thomas had …

Adrian and Thomas have been married for eight years. Adrian has discovered that Thomas had an affair with a colleague. The affair has ended and they both want to save their marriage. But Adrian finds it difficult to trust again. Thomas regrets the affair, but does not know what else he can do to regain Adrian’s trust.

Sexual intimacy: Lisa would like sex and physical closeness …

Lisa and Hannes have been together for four years. Lisa would like sex and physical closeness more often, while Hannes feels desire less often. She feels rejected and wonders whether he still finds her attractive. He increasingly feels under pressure and withdraws. Both want a fulfilling sex life, but cannot find a shared way forward.

Are you dealing with something similar? Or is something else entirely on your mind? Perhaps jealousy, parenting, in-laws or money. If a situation in your relationship keeps weighing on you, couples counselling can open up new perspectives. In a free discovery call, we can find out together whether and how I can support you.

My main offering

Zwiecoaching

Drawing on best practices from many sessions and inspired by the methods of renowned couples therapists, I have developed my own process for couples counselling. Zwiecoaching: a structured three-phase programme with four intensive conversations and an almost guaranteed change – for couples who do not want to spend years in couples therapy but are still looking for support for their relationship.

Phase 1

Initial analysis

Identifying the underlying roots and communication patterns – what is really behind the conflicts.

Phase 2

Two separate coaching sessions

Each partner experiences a profound transformation while also witnessing their partner's transformation.

Phase 3

Conclusion & integration

Shared routines and tools for lasting change – so progress carries over into everyday life.

For you individually, too

Individual coaching for relationships,
separation & new beginnings

Not every relationship issue begins as a couple. Perhaps you are looking for a relationship, want to work through a separation, or your partner is not open to couples counselling. I am confident I can help you with that, too.

Dating and relationships

Find clarity about what you are looking for and where to find it.

Making friends

Learn how to build fulfilling friendships.

Working through separations

Regain emotional stability and understand your patterns.

My approach

Evidence-informed, humanly delivered

Couples counselling and coaching draw on established models of coaching, personality, change and relationships. And there is often more than one path to a goal. Together, we will choose the path that feels right for you. I certainly will not fob you off with esoteric platitudes or pop psychology. With me, you will receive practical tools that you can use in your everyday life right away.

NLP & hypnosis

Neuro-linguistic programming and change techniques from hypnosis transform deeply rooted patterns – quickly and sustainably.

Psychography

Dietmar Friedmann's personality model explains why we react so differently in relationships – and how genuine understanding begins.

Attachment theory

Attachment styles shape how we experience closeness and distance. Knowing your style helps you understand your reactions – and change them deliberately.

Wheel of Consent

Betty Martin's model clarifies who gives and receives in an interaction – and who truly has a say. A key to healthy boundaries in relationships.

You can find a more detailed description of the methods I use in my work on the About Me page. Zwiecoaching integrates numerous evidence-informed approaches, including Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method and systemic constellations.

Personality analysis

What type are you in relationships?

Dietmar Friedmann's Psychography distinguishes three personality types. I like working with it because it can bring order to relationship chaos very quickly. It is, of course, only a highly simplified model. Understanding Psychography can nevertheless explain a great deal about your relationships and help many people better understand and appreciate how different people are – especially in a romantic relationship.

relation type reasoning type activity type

This model is, of course, only an option. Being able to place yourselves within it is by no means a prerequisite for working together.
